The British band, Coldplay, is set to visit Lyon, France, for the “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” after 7 years since their last visit, which was in 2017, during their, “A Head Full of Dreams Tour.”

“Music of the Spheres World Tour” is Coldplay’s 8th ongoing tour which started in 2022. Millions of dollars have been invested by Coldplay, to ensure that “Music of the Spheres World Tour” lives up to the standard of their 9th studio album, “Music of the Spheres.”

So far, they have been successful as “Music of the Spheres World Tour” has received countless nominations, winning some awards in the process, with more nominations pending.  Coldplay’s touring team is currently in Singapore, where they will spend a total of 6 days, counting from the 23rd of January when the 2024 leg of the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” reached Singapore, a few days after it started.

The Band will tour through to February, before taking a long break from February 4th to the 8th of June with their first show after the break being in Athens. The sun will then set on the 22nd of June in Décines-Charpieu, with Coldplay performing their amazing “Music of the Spheres World Tour” set-list in Lyon, France for the first time in 7 years.

Coldplayers in Lyon are already eager to see Coldplay. Their excitement can be felt from the comments they keep dropping on Coldplay’s YouTube, Instagram, X, and Facebook posts. Even though Coldplay had visited France already for the “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” their initial visit wasn’t enough to quench the thirst Coldplayers in Lyon had for their performance.

Tickets are still in high demand, despite the millions already sold. It wasn’t long before we discovered that Coldplayers from all over the world tend to buy tickets to follow Coldplay wherever they go. Although this act is pure love for Coldplay’s art, it has made many indigenes ticketless.

But, not for long, since we have here a credible tickets marketplace, where you can easily get Coldplay Lyon tickets, should you need them.

Lyon, France – Past and Present

We couldn’t help but check out some things that must have changed since Coldplay’s last visit to Lyon. We compared 2017 to 2024, and even though the event is yet to take place, we see changes that are worthy of celebrating on behalf of Coldplay.

For instance, in 2017 when Coldplay visited Décines-Charpieu, Lyon, during the “A Head Full of Dreams Tour,” attendance that night was approximately 51k people. Though they will be hosting their concert this year in the same venue, there’s a rough attendance estimate of close to 60k people or more, counting from the number of Coldplayers who have tickets already from Lyon.

Coldplay concerts are usually packed full of people, and walking to other parts of the stadium is nearly impossible. Plus the fun sections set out for fans to engage themselves in amidst the concert contribute to tons of other activities in the concert ground that attract more people.

Additionally, during “A Head Full of Dreams Tour,” Coldplay won 2 awards from France, which were; Ticket of the Year, and Most Anticipated Show of 2017. There seem to be a bit of similarities to the awards Coldplay rakes in from France.

This year, for the “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” Coldplay has been awarded Best International Concert in France. We have reasons to believe that the awards might pour in more before the tour ends, since we still have a few months to go, with Coldplay known to work magic.

Reducing CO2 Emission By 50% Compared to A Head Full of Dreams

One of the major successes of the British band, “Coldplay” is the fact that they have managed to reduce the CO2 emission of “Music of the Spheres World Tour” so far by 50%, compared to “A Head Full of Dreams.”

Though this wouldn’t have been possible without the engagement of some of their fans, who have either peddled a stationary bicycle or danced on a kinetic floor to help power the show by the energy generated in the process, Coldplay should be recognized as the first band to choose the Earth over comfort.

Realizing the comfort Coldplay had to overlook just to be able to emit less CO2 will make you love them more. Usually, it’ll take a lot of air time for tourists to reach their destination and set up in the concert venue on time.

But Coldplay reduced their air time, and used electric vehicles for ground transportation, and also biofuel when necessary. The band also repeatedly flies commercial flights, instead of using a private jet like most celebrities would.

When they had to fly, they insisted on using a plane that uses “Neste’s Sustainable Aviation Fuel,” which is made up of residues and wastes, like cooking oil. All these developments cost extra money, but Coldplay knew what they were getting themselves into right from the beginning, that’s why they are currently everyone’s favorites.

One other angelic act that Coldplay did while preparing for the “Music of the Spheres World Tour was” agreeing to plant a tree for each of their tickets sold. This means that, if 2 million people should purchase Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres” World Tour tickets, the world will have an additional 2 million trees. No wonder Coldplay was named, “One of the Most Influential Climate Action Leaders,” in the whole world.

“Viva La Vida” Coincidence or Planned?

Luck seems to be on the side of Coldplayers in Lyon as Coldplay is set to perform some of the songs they performed the last time they were there, 7 years ago, alongside the songs from the “Music of the Spheres” album.

The setlist of the “Music of the Spheres” world tour carries some songs from the setlist of “A Head Full of Dreams” like “Viva La Vida,” “A Sky Full of Stars,” and “Adventure of a Lifetime,” among others. For Coldplayers in Lyon, this will be the 2nd time they experience the electronic vibe of these songs from Coldplay.

The addition of songs from the setlist of “A Head Full of Dreams” into the setlist of “Music of the Spheres” shows the connection that all Coldplay songs have. Imagine recording songs, years apart but somehow, they all connect and can fit in the same album, if you want them to.

For instance, take “A Sky Full of Stars,” from Coldplay’s 6th Studio album, “Ghost Stories.” See how it fits perfectly in their current album, “Music of the Spheres,” making it a perfect addition to the setlist of their current tour.

Another unique thing to take note of is the staging. Coldplay has been a fan of huge stages. But, only because it is visible enough for everyone at the concert venue. The stage setting is usually magical because of the light displays that happen while Coldplay’s Chris Martin performs. It makes the whole experience unforgettable.

One tradition that fans of the British band usually anticipate is the “Fan Dedication Song” segment that takes place on the C-stage. This is the time when Coldplay performs a song requested the most by their fans through social media. We’re sure the Coldplayers in Lyon will not hesitate to choose a song when the time comes, seeing that they are active on Coldplay’s social media accounts.
