What better way to ask your favourite person to marry you than at a gig of your favourite artist?

Whether your significant other is a Swiftie and you managed to bag tickets to the Eras tour, or you’re heading to watch your beloved Ed Sheeran live – we’re here to help you plan the perfect mid-show proposal.

Here are our top tips for popping the question at a concert.

Plan where to keep the ring

After you’ve picked out an engagement ring, consider how you are going to transport it into the arena.

You might need to pass through a security scanner which could be set off by the metal – so it’s important to have a plan in place to avoid your significant other spotting the ring pre-proposal.

For example, you could pop it in a zipped jacket pocket which could be removed and scanned separately. You may even want to contact the venue in advance to find out the best way to get into the arena without spoiling the surprise.

Propose during their favourite song

Does your partner have a favourite song? Perhaps there’s a track that has significance in your relationship? Then you could choose to propose during the performance of that tune.

It’ll show them how much thought you’ve put into it and will create an even deeper connection to that song. Every time you hear it in future it’ll remind you both of the proposal!

It’s worth checking out the setlist before the gig to make sure the artist has included that song. If not, you have time to come up with a backup plan.

Give them a keepsake card

Concerts are loud – so you won’t be able to do a heartfelt, lengthy speech during your proposal. But if there are some words you’d like to say, why not pop them in a card instead?

The key here is to keep it short, sweet and to the point. Get their attention by tapping them on the shoulder and passing them a small card that says “will you marry me?”

You could include some personal references on the card like their name, a picture of you two or an inside joke. Then get down on one knee and hold out the ring for them.

Get help from a friendly face

If you’re keen to get photos or videos of the occasion, it’s worth getting a friendly face to help you out. If you have some mates heading to the concert with you, let them in on the secret so they can whip their phones out to capture the special moment.

If you don’t have mates with you – don’t worry! You can ask a friendly member of the crowd to take some pictures and/or a video for you.

To avoid arousing suspicion from your partner, have a pre-written note in your pocket that you can hand to someone nearby explaining the plan.

Hopefully, these tips will help you to plan the ultimate proposal mid-concert. Wishing you the best of luck!
