If you will be in the area soon and you need a few ideas to enjoy a memorial evening out, the following places may inspire you.

Tripping the Light Fantastic

The nightclubbing scene is buzzing in Sheffield, with a wide array of venues specialising in hip hop, EDM, RnB, house, techno, Latin music, salsa, and more. Classic venues include Plug (one of the largest in the city), Electric Box (featuring fantastic DJ-spun music), CODE (with laser lighting and CO2 cannons), Corporation (hosting cool rock and indie band performances), and The Leadmill (famed for having hosted some of the world’s most popular bands—including Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, and Snow Patrol). Some of the most popular gay bars and clubs, meanwhile, are Dempseys Bar & Club and Queer Junction (featuring music, drinks, and drag performances).

Savouring the Best of Sheffield

There are five Sheffield restaurants listed in the Michelin guide: Rafters, Broccoli Kitchen, Jöro, The Old Vicarage, and Juke & Loe. All have been granted the Michelin Plate, which means, essentially, that they serve very good cuisine. Rafters, Juke & Loe, and Broccoli British cuisine, Jöro whips up international fare, while The Old Vicarage is known for its traditional seasonal cuisine. These establishments also serve renowned international wines, offering quintessential English service and serving an array of dishes made with quality, seasonal produce.

Casinos and Bingo

If you love nothing more than testing your luck at the blackjack table, winning a round of bingo,  or making a killing at a slot machine, know that you will once again have quite a few choices of venues to visit in Sheffield. For a bit of casino action, it’s got to be Genting Casino or Grosvenor Casino. You can also head to Napoleon’s Casino & Restaurant. As for bingo, Mecca and Gala Bingo operate halls in a host of venues across the UK, with Mecca, in particular, being renowned for its generous welcome bonus. Mecca actually has a sizeable centre on Flat Street. As is the case with all Mecca Bingos, you can choose from a host of variants of your favourite game, as well as slot games, bingo for newcomers, and mobile bingo in case you prefer to play from the comfort of your hotel.

Ghost Tours of the City

Delve into the darker side of Steel City by taking part in a fun Ghost Tour, guided by Mr. Dreadful. Walk through some of Sheffield’s most iconic streets and discover the horrible true stories that occurred in their hidden corners. The tours generally run three times a week, with a different tour being offered on each day. Mondays are for families, Wednesdays for horror lovers, and Thursdays for those seeking a blend of tradition and comedy.
