Introduction

The Energy Performance Certificate Register (EPC register) is a database of energy performance certificates (EPCs) in the United Kingdom. It was set up by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in 2013. The EPC register is used to store, manage and publish EPCs.

What is an EPC rating?

An EPC rating is a measure of a property’s energy efficiency. The rating is given on a scale of A (very efficient) to G (inefficient). The rating is based on factors such as the type of property, the age of the property, the insulation, the heating and hot water system and the type of windows.
