The British summer may be drawing to a close and, with it, many of Yorkshire’s most popular dog-friendly events. Fortunately, 2018 still has a lot to offer dog owners across the county.

Few things make dogs and their owners happier than some quality bonding time. According to pet food experts James Wellbeloved, the best way to ensure your dog is happy is with regular play, long walks and even through regular training and commands. It’s true; dogs genuinely enjoy receiving commands from their owners and they will show you how they feel with their body language.

Consequently, one of the best ways to keep your dog happy is with days out to events which encourage these activities. Dog walks are not only the perfect way for you and your dog to stay fit while exploring the beautiful and varied Yorkshire moors, but also encourage your pet to socialise with other dogs. Or why not show off your dog’s beauty, talent and obedience at one of the many fun dog shows across the county?

Here are some of the county’s fun and dog-friendly events that are still to come this year.

The Yorkshire Walking Group
Various locations – various dates
The Yorkshire Walking Group is a club of like-minded hikers who enjoy taking advantage of the counties incredible scenery. They gather regularly and offer newcomers and experienced hikers alike a chance to enjoy everything from an evening stroll to a demanding mountain trek. Better still, many of the walking leaders welcome dogs on the hikes, so these regular walks present the perfect excuse for you and your canine companion to meet other hikers and enjoy a delightful few hours in parts of the county you may be yet to visit together.
