These days, digital signs are so common that they are even being used within games. We all know that cyberpunk and future sci-fi movies love to feature digital signs, but you wouldn’t expect them as much in games. Especially in a game where you visit a rustic house in the swampland, only to find that they are making use of digital signs more than most mall stores.
Mold-parasite infected country folk are not above using digital signs in their house, even after being infected, so is easy to see why many areas of modern entertainment have adopted digital signs. Here are a few ways that digital signs can help the entertainment industry.
A Lack of Confusion For The Fun-Having Masses
Frankly, we have hit a period in history where digital sign hardware and software is so cheap that companies are using digital signs in place of regular signs. Go to events, stores, and even open days, and you will see digital signs that point to everything from the changing rooms to the bathrooms. What’s more, when there are a lot of people, you want them to be able to find their way around. Moving direction signs (such as a digital sign that shows movement) is much more easily seen than a static traditional sign.
A Lack of Confusion For The Inebriated Guests
When it comes to drunk guests, even big neon signs may not be enough to direct people to where they should be. However, fair sized digital signs are a great way of helping people find their way. Just a bit of movement helps catch people’s eyes so they can find their way around.
What’s more, you can change the signs as the event goes on. For example, it may start out telling people where the stage is, where the food items are sold, but later may tell people where the busses and taxis are arriving.
Getting Through To The Audience More Clearly
It sounds a little manipulative, but that bigger an audience is, then the easier it is to slip a few adverts into the mix. Whether you are opening a big mall or hosting a comedy event, there is always a lot of standing around. People are usually looking at their phones, but on those random occasions where they look up to see where they are, they may see your signs that are running your adverts. Again, it is a little manipulative and cheesy, but it works.
Picking Between the “Ahem” Variety of Inebriated
It may not sound very fair, but some digital sign users have used digital signs at events to help pick out the people who are a little too inebriated on illegal substances. In many cases, this is not to capture or trick them, but to keep them away from the bathrooms and food serving outlets. It sounds funny but look at the recorded footage of live events (they usually play them on Trance and EDM music on YouTube). You will see small pockets of people staring at the psychedelic imaginary on digital signs. These are the sorts of people who would usually spend their time waiting in lines for things they have forgotten they wanted to use.
Isn’t Digital Signage Software Too Difficult to Use?
You are right in thinking that digital signage software is too difficult to use because it used to be. In truth, a lot of this stuff used to be. The versions of CAD that people used in 2000+ college were digital Rubik’s Cubes compared to today. Back in the 2005 era, the version of Blender 3D animation (the program used to make Toy Story) was so complicated that the best videos on how to use it were done by 12yr old Indian kids (honestly, if you were there, you will know).
These days, as with all varieties of software, your average digital signage software is a lot more intuitive. It is a lot more user friendly. We have entered an era where a lot has been normalized. We all know what a cog means, what a cross means, and with three stacked lines mean. Back in the 2005 era, Blender used the right mouse button to click!!! These days, there are computing and IT norms that all popular software sticks to, and it is these norms that make modern software easier to use. Not to mention the fact that companies like KitCast have spent years honing their software to make it more user friendly. These days, digital signage software is no more difficult to use than a Torrent sharing system or a YouTube video studio.
