Chris Wilder has urged his team to remain calm and keep things simple as Sheffield United fight their way back towards the top six of the table. The reigning League One champions have had a great season so far and are aiming to make it to the playoffs with just eight games left on the cards. Sheffield United takes on Brentford in their next game and could edge their way into the playoff spots with a win.

According to the Unibet Premier League fanbase, Manchester United have the most fans across the world, but it is Sheffield United who have the most heart. They battled their way up from League One last season and are already proving that they can give well-established Championship teams a hard time on the pitch.

Currently, Sheffield United are ninth in the league with 60 points, but are only two points behind fifth and sixth place teams Derby and Middlesbrough, who currently occupy the final two playoff spots.

It was a lightning start to the season for Sheffield United, especially given that they have one of the highest conversion rates in the league; but the last few months have been more challenging, and the team have wasted a few decent opportunities to take the full three points. United suffered a defeat against Fulham earlier in the month, draws against Ipswich and most recently, Nottingham Forest.

It would be unfair to say that The Blades’ performance has dropped, but Wilder points out that they have to be able to bring consistency and take any chances, if they want to secure a place in the playoffs.

“We’ve got to show more quality in there. We can’t miss chances. Quality is huge in the Championship,” said Wilder.

Sheffield United play Brentford away on Friday, 30th March. Then they host Cardiff City on 2nd April, followed by fixtures against Barnsley, sixth-place Middlesbrough, Millwall, Birmingham City, Preston North End, and Bristol City on the final day of the regular season. Every match will represent an opportunity for Sheffield United to make the top six and secure their place in the playoffs.
