To commemorate the centenary of women’s vote, Cinema For All have organised two events on November 24th. Centred around their newly-commissioned short film, Vote 100: Born a Rebel, a collection of footage from the Yorkshire, North East and North West Film Archives featuring incredible inspiring female activists over the past 100 years.
Tickets will cost £3/2 for the afternoon, £5/3 for the evening, and £7/5 for the entire event, which takes place at Yellow Arch Studios.
Afternoon event: 2-5pm
Following the screening of Vote 100: Born A Rebel, there will be a discussion lead by a group of thriving and captivating women that is composed of Dani Abulhawa, Clare Midgley and Auriel Majumdar from Sheffield Hallam University along with Gail Gibbons (Sheffield Futures) and Annalisa Toccara (Our Mel). Sitting down to a suffragette inspired tea party, they will explore the concept of demands; what are the demands the women of this generation should be protesting for and how they can be achieved. The discussion will be open to the audience where they will be encouraged to express opinions, suggestions and criticism whilst enjoying a slice of cake. For anyone struggling to get a babysitter, there will be free suffragette themed workshops to keep the children entertained throughout the discussion.
Evening event: 7pm-12am
To kick-start the evening there will be a second screening of Vote 100: Born A Rebel along with a variety of short films on show created by other prosperous women. There will also be complimentary snack boxes provided by Fancy an Indian to line your stomach for an outstanding line-up.
– Professor Kate Dossett, from the University of Leeds, will be hosting a talk about her project, Archiving Women in Film and TV, which focuses on the challenges presented to women in film and TV history.
– Local poet, Tchiyiwe Chihana, will be performing live.

-All Girls Arson Club, a fresh and innovative pop/rock group that sing about everything and anything.
– Drag artist, Venus Dimilo will diminish any feelings of fatigue and ensure you’re kept on your feet.
– Finally, renowned UK DJ group, Girl Gang, will finish off the evening with one of their sensational sets that is sure to have you in a celebratory mood.
