Under The Stars, a Sheffield-based disability arts organisation, will present a night of groundbreaking music and film at the Yellow Arch Studios on Thursday 25th May.
The organisation first began as a nightclub event over 15 years ago which led to music workshops for the creation of music of all descriptions. Their Friday music group was established 10 years ago and are now presenting a showcase of original music and film. The event comprises of compositions, live improv, poetry and a film created during lockdown.
Their various music groups will also be performing at Tramlines 2023, in The Open Arms Stage as part of an ongoing partnership with them. Their Friday group has also released an LP with the help of Bring Me The Horizon and radio plays from Jarvis Cocker and have participated in DJ soundclash at the Southbank Centre where they wowed the audience with their selection.
Yellow Arch Studios is the perfect place for this multi-media event. The studio has hosted the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Kylie Minogue and Jarvis Cocker and has been at the heart of Sheffield’s music scene for over 20 years. .
The band has made loads of different tracks and we want people to see what we’ve done and how hard we’ve worked. A disability doesn’t define you, it’s just a part of who you are. Creating music is important for us because music can cross all boundaries and bring people together.
