The trailer for the much anticipated next instalment for the British classic ‘The Full Monty’ has officially dropped, along with a confirmed release date for the new original series.
Set 25 years after the smash-hit blockbuster, the cast have reunited for an eight-part series which will premiere exclusively on Disney + next month.
The show will feature many iconic Sheffield landmarks, with many making an appearance in the trailer, as the gang embark on new adventures and attempt to navigate their way through a post-industrial steel city.
The iconic comedy-drama is set to follow on from the 1997 film, showing audiences what happened to the group after they put their kit back on, as well as highlighting how the fiercely funny world of these working-class heroes has changed in the past quarter of a century.
The lead cast are set to reprise their much loved roles and will be joined by some new faces, most notably from the trailer Talitha Wing who plays Destiny, Gaz’s (Robert Carlyle) estranged teenage daughter, with their relationship appearing to be a focal point for the new series. Even Wim Snape, who was only 12 when the film was shot, will once again play Gaz’s now grown up son Nathan.
As well as the fan-favourite characters making their return, the TV reboot is also written by Simon Beaufoy, who penned the original BAFTA-winning movie.
Filming for the series has taken place all across Sheffield from Gleadless Valley to Meadowhall to the city centre and has left many eager fans filled with excitement for the series.
You will be able to stream the show on Disney + as of 14th June in the UK. In the meantime if you simply can’t wait, you can stream the original movie on the streaming site now.
