Open for viewing until 26th February, Platform 22 is a multi-site exhibition that features the work of five Sheffield-based artists: Adebola Oyekanmi, Kedisha Coakley, Rian Treanor, Theresa Bruno and Tyler Mellins.
Taking place across three sites – Site Gallery, Yorkshire Artspace’s Persistence Works and Bloc Projects – each venue is currently hosting a separate exhibition exploring specific themes.
Dark Echoes can be found at Site Gallery, bringing together the work of Adebola Oyekanmi, Kedisha Coakley and Tyler Mellins. The group exhibition traces echoes of the past and future through the legacies of empire, outer space and the paranormal.
Over at Yorkshire Artspace, you’ll find Gargantua by Theresa Bruno – an expression of the artist’s neurodiverse way of thinking that subtly gives voice to her current concerns on topics of the planet, mass production, desire, consumerism, and waste.
Cumulative Entanglement with Rotherham Sight & Sound is an immersive sound installation at Bloc Projects by multidisciplinary artist and music producer Rian Treanor. The ambitious work emerged from a series of workshops throughout 2022 with Rotherham Sight and Sound (RSS) members Kathleen Allott, Anne Goss and Mick Gladwin, all of whom are blind and visually impaired.
The Platform project is an established artistic development programme at Site Gallery which allows artists to explore new ideas in a public space, testing new thinking and research with engaged audiences.
