This Valentine’s, The Village Screen make their long-awaited return to Sheffield’s Peddler Warehouse with a collection of romantic pop-up cinema screenings.
The loved up line-up includes screenings of Mean Girls on the afternoon of Sunday 13 February, followed in the evening by 10 Things I Hate About You, and Tarantino’s masterpiece, True Romance, on Monday 14 February.
The Village Screen have been hosting cinematic events at Peddler since the venue very first opened in 2015 and they are excited to return this February to transform the warehouse into a cupid approved cinema to enjoy with your pals, gals and loves.
As always with The Village Screen experiences, there will be a choice of delicious, independent street food options available, with the perfect match of drinks and snacks, including hot chocolates, themed cocktails, Prosecco, freshly cooked popcorn and more. You can even write a love letter to your special someone, to be shown on the big screen or add a snuggle package to your ticket to make it an extra cosy date night to remember.
The Village Screen are a small, independent, event production team, who have been running experiential, cinematic events in Sheffield, Manchester and across the UK for the past six years. Their wonderful team work tirelessly to ensure they deliver a truly amazing experience and are on hand at each event, to greet you with a smile and look after you throughout your screening. Expect amazing pre-show entertainment, beautiful, themed décor and a downright cute and cosy atmosphere.
First on the big screen is the hilarious Mean Girls. Written by Tina Fey, this totally fetch film sees new girl Cady Heron trying to navigate her way through high school and becoming a hit with the top girl group, The Plastics. All is going swimmingly until she makes the mistake of falling for the Queen Bee’s ex-boyfriend, Aaron Samuels. What could possibly go wrong? Grab your besties for this laugh out loud narrative of high school hierarchies.
Next up we have the awesome 90s rom-com, 10 Things I Hate About You. This witty film based on William Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew follows the story of two sisters and a family rule stating the popular, socialite Bianca cannot date until her boy-hating, rebellious sister Kat does. When a love interest comes along, he attempts to set up Bianca’s sister in a hilarious tale of events. You’ll hate it when it makes you laugh, even worse when it makes you cry! There are definitely at least 10 things you will love about this film.
Well worth the wait, their final screening is the epic True Romance, a Tarantino cool classic and the ultimate in dark, funny and violent. This film sees a comic-book nerd marry an ex-prostitute, then accidently steal a suitcase of cocaine from her pimp and embark on a dangerous journey whilst being followed by a mafia gang. Stealing, cheating, killing, who said romance is dead?
