This week Sheffield welcomed the opening of Indian restaurant bar Governor Gupta, a stylish new culinary addition to the Heart of the City. Situated on the rooftop of the Radisson Blu Hotel, guests will be able to enjoy classic Indian snacks and flavours alongside tandoor chophouse specialities and hand-crafted cocktails.
Boasting comfy booths and outdoor seating overlooking the Peace Gardens and Town Hall, Governor Gupta is much more than just a dining spot; it offers coffee in the day, cocktails in the evening, and even board games for those who must win at all costs!
“Governor Gupta is another fantastic addition to Sheffield City Centre,” Cllr Ben Miskell, Chair of the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee at Sheffield City Council said. “Just like the Radisson Blu hotel itself, the venue is another fine example of how our Heart of the City development scheme is driving positive change and widening the offer of our city centre.”
Gupta comes from Sanskrit, meaning guardian or protector, and the venue itself is inspired by the Northern Indian Āddā culture, which loosely equates to European gossip culture – long, informal, and fluid chats to pass the time.
Miskell added: “Although the restaurant has a trendy ‘exclusive’ feel to it, it is very much open to all. I would encourage you all to visit, sample the delicious food and enjoy the stunning views from the rooftop terrace.”
