South Yorkshire youth homelessness charity Roundabout has revealed that Sheffield-born West End Disney star Matt Croke will be topping the bill at their eagerly awaited live musical theatre event this summer.

The Musical Theatre Drive-In, which is organised and staged by South Yorkshire youth homelessness charity Roundabout, is a theatrical extravaganza which comes live from the orange car park at Meadowhall Shopping Centre on Saturday June 12.

Four full performances throughout the day (10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm) will feature some of South Yorkshire’s most talented actors, singers and theatre companies, all taking to the stage for the first time since the pandemic lockdown saw all live performances cancelled.

Each show is completely individual and will feature a different line-up of both performers and content and topping the bill at 4pm will be actor and singer Matt Croke, best known for his starring role in Disney’s West End hit stage version of Aladdin.

Born and raised in Sheffield, Matt was a student at the Maureen Law Theatre School, Sharon Berry School of Dance and later at Laine Theatre Arts College.

Along with his acclaimed Aladdin starring role, he has also appeared in shows as varied as West Side Story, Wicked, Funny Girl, Chicago, Grease, Singin’ in the Rain, A Chorus Line and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.

Alongside his sister Rachel, he is currently a principal at the RMC Academy of Theatre Performance in Sheffield.

Matt said: “The past year has been a tough one for all performers as none of us has been able to get upon stage and sing.”

“I am really excited to be part of the Drive-In and to be sharing this great day with so much great talent and all for such a good cause.”

From Hairspray to Wicked, We Will Rock You to Mamma Mia, Kinky Boots to Chicago, the Roundabout Musical Theatre Drive-In will feature a host of classic showstoppers throughout the day.

All four shows will have a drive-in format, with vehicles safely social distanced and with the numbers of performers on stage limited to follow all current government safety guidelines.
