Do you know your downward-facing-dog from your warrior pose? Neither did we, until we discovered our flexible side at R1se yoga studio, the latest addition to Krynkyl at Kel-ham.

Based in the former Trib3 unit, R1se is owned and managed by husband and wife duo Jenny and Chris Downham. They’ve created an ibiza-inspired space – fresh white walls, candlelight, a pretty impressive fish tank and music by Ministry of Sound DJ Jon White.

Like it hot or not? You pick. Jenny told us: “We are offering something a little bit more modern with an urban twist – three different styles of yoga, hot or not classes, 45 minutes each, from early morning until late evening. It’s a core workout for your mind, body and soul.”

The classes are designed to increase strength and flexibility with indulgent relaxation and good vibes thrown in for good measure.

1. Chill is exactly what you’d expect – a slow, super-chilled class with plenty of mat time. This one is the perfect if you’ve got a busy life or had a hectic day.

2. Flex is slightly more challenging – building lower body strength, balance and overall increased flexibility. At the end of the class there’s a wildcard pose – but if standing on your head is beyond your capabilities, you can just pop outside for a complimentary BirdHouse tea.

3. Power is more fast-paced… a no-messing class with challenging sequences. Prepare to sweat.

The classes are taught by Rosie O’Neill who certainly knows her stuff. She’s been practicing yoga and pilates for 15 years and teaching for three years. She told us: “Yoga is all about just moving and having fun so the urban concept at R1se is right up my street.

“Everyone has been absolutely nailing it – the joy of yoga is that when you smile, relax, and have fun, nothing more needed, that’s when the magic happens.

Unlimited yoga in February is £60 or you can pay-as-you-go. Sign up at r1se.co.uk
