Night Strider, now in it’s fifth year, is an annual half marathon and 10k walking challenge which takes place at night. The event raises funds for patient care at St Luke’s hospice.

The popular St Luke’s fundraiser makes a return to the city on 5 October. The activity aims to build on the success of previous years, hoping to raise over £120,000.

This year, Night Strider will take on an updated route. Starting out from the Peace Gardens, the walk will be a reverse route that heads out towards Ecclesall before coming back into the city centre. The Peace Garden’s fountains will be lit up in St Luke’s distinctive pink and there’ll be plenty of Sheffield’s finest attractions to view along the way.

St Luke’s Events Coordinator, Rachel Spofforth has said: “With a new route to enjoy, we are confident that this year’s participants will enjoy striding together more than ever before, knowing that with every step they will be helping us raise the vital funds needed to ensure we can continue providing the very best care for all our patients and their families.”

Night Strider is open to all participants over the age of 10. However, those aged 10 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult and it has been advised that wheelchair users source assistance for the event.

Night Strider is sponsored by Pricecheck and Gripple.
