Located on Kelham Island, Peddler Night Market’s monthly weekender will be hosted from the 6th to 7th March, bringing the return of multiple street food venders, craft beer stalls, live music and local independent traders. This month’s Market is providing plenty of Vegan options for those of you who are animal product-averse, including delicious treats from Fresh Rootz, Bamboo Street Food and Huns Vegan, as well as lots of other options for the meat-eaters out there. Join the festivities on Saturday night at 9:30 for live music from headliner Jelly Cleaver, recent winner of the Steve Reid InNOVAtion award.

Reel Steel Cult Weekender 2020

March brings us this year’s Cult Weekender hosted by Reel Steel and The Abbeydale Picture House, bringing to the screen a plethora of great films considered to have ‘classic’ or ‘cult’ status. Hosted in the Grade II listed 1920s picture palace cinema on Abbeydale Road, the festival is hosting viewings of Friday The 13th and The Evil Dead in a horror-filled double bill, to the much loved RoboCop presented in 35mm as well as screenings of Studio Ghibli’s Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle. So bring some popcorn and a blanket and settle in for a weekend of movie cult classics!

After the first edition of their festival last year put jazz firmly on the map for Sheffield, Future Jazz have been pumping out gigs all year round, bringing all sorts of undiscovered UK talent under the roof of Yellow Arch Studios. This time they bring last year’s festival headliners Noya Rao along with talented Leeds trio, Morpher.

In association with SheFest 2020, Hull-based theatre company The Roaring Girls are bringing body positivity to the Sheffield stage. Summer is fast approaching, and while women around the UK are being pressured into intermittent fasting and No-Carbs-Before-Marbs dieting regimes, the creators behind Beach Body Ready are sticking two fingers up to these ridiculous rules in a feel-good and innovative show which seeks to empower.

The Observatory

Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Hubble telescope’s launch, Sheffield Cathedral is set for another light and sound performance in collaboration with Luxmuralis. The Observatory event follows the success of the collaborative Christmas experience, The Angels are Coming, promising another transformation of the Cathedral’s interior – this time into a galactic display of stars and meteor showers. The Luxmuralis team aim to combine traditional and modern artistic concepts, working in spaces private and public spaces around the country such as Lichfield Cathedral, St Albans Cathedral and Oxford’s Bodleian Library.
