Families at Sheffield Children’s Hospital are preparing to cheer the goodies and boo the baddies in Sheffield Theatres’ pantomime, Cinderella, when the show is live-streamed tomorrow night for children spending the festive season in hospital.

Cinderella featuring Cbeebies’ favourite Phil ‘Mister Maker’ Gallagher, Strictly Star Joanne Clifton and comedy legend Damian Williams will be streamed into the Outpatients Department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital on Wednesday 18 December at 7pm and be available to view across the hospital sites.

The pantomime experience will begin in the morning when cast members visit the hospital to meet some of the children and young people at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Artfelt, The Children’s Hospital Charity’s arts programme, will then continue the fun with a series of festive-themed patient workshops on the wards throughout the day, before facilitating the special streaming for the children to enjoy later that evening.

Cat Powell, Artfelt manager at the Children’s Hospital, said: ‘We’re so happy to be working with Sheffield Theatres on bringing the pantomime to Sheffield Children’s. The panto is often a child’s first experience of theatre so we wanted to ensure a stay in hospital meant they didn’t miss out. We’re looking forward to a great evening and have lots of interactive elements planned to make it a really special occasion.’

Dan Bates, chief executive of Sheffield Theatres, said: “Coming to the pantomime is such a huge part of Christmas for so many families, and we are absolutely delighted that we’re able to bring the experience to children and young people spending Christmas in hospital this year.

“Our brilliant team are in the final stages of planning with Artfelt and the Children’s Hospital staff to create an evening that’s full of the magic of pantomime. We can’t wait to share the joy of panto with even more people this year!”

Streaming the pantomime has been made possible by the generous donations of Sheffield Theatres’ customers throughout the festive season.
