Kid Acne has announced his first Sheffield show in five years with an exhibition at S1 Artspace at Park Hill in September.
HAVE A WORD is based on lyrics and typography, exploring the connection between the two subjects with a ”DIY mindset”. Speaking about the exhibition, Kid Acne said: “After months of preparation, I’m pleased to announce my first Sheffield solo show in five years.Having made art and music in various guises over the years, these seemingly disparate elements have generally occupied unrelated spaces in my studio practice, despite both being an equal driving force in my creative output.

The show comprises of a new series of letter-based works, informed by snippets of lyrics from Kid Acne’s forthcoming album (also titled HAVE A WORD), released on LEX this autumn. The record is the result of an 18-month-long transatlantic collaboration with Chicago-based producer, Spectacular Diagnostics. A limited number of advance vinyl copies will be available exclusively at the exhibit.
Outside the gallery will be a series of large-scale slogan pieces, occupying a number of walls within the Park Hill complex, where Kid Acne has become the unofficial/official ‘artist in residence’ over the past few weeks. These murals intend to put the canvases in context, whilst temporarily transforming unoccupied areas of the site.
