Using a handmade roaster crafted from the finest Sheffield steel, Frazer’s Coffee ethically sources beans from across the globe and create exciting blends to share with the people of the city.
Frazer Habershon’s passion for coffee started at home. When it came to brewing up, his mum would always ensure there were good quality beans available in the house. It would stand him in good stead years later, as the local lad embarked on a journey from avid coffee drinker to building one of the city’s best-known coffee brands, powered in true ‘made in Sheffield’ style by a state-of-the-art roaster made from Forgemasters steel.
Prior to the first lockdown in 2020, Frazer’s Coffee had become a well-established wholesale business, selling their coffee to a wide range of cafes, shops, delis and local businesses while flying the flag for direct trade, building stronger connections with farmers across the globe, and ensuring the stories behind each bean were told. However, when the pandemic hit and multiple stockists across the region were quickly closed, the roastery was forced to temporarily cease trading as an uncertain future beckoned.
“It was a difficult period and worrying time for any business,” says Frazer. “But I was really moved when my inbox became inundated with retail orders from customers at home. The penny quickly dropped: we distributed to over 80 wholesale businesses, which is a lot of people drinking our coffee, and during the lockdown, people wanted to continue doing just that. We pivoted to becoming an online retail business, delivering directly to customers and offering collections at the roastery. It allowed us to come out of the other side stronger, setting a lot of the groundwork for what was to come.”
Now split evenly across wholesale and retail, Frazer’s next big step as a business came in March of this year, when they opened their first coffee shop at Kommune Food Hall. Frazer’s Coffee Emporium offers a tailored service where you can buy your beans and brewing equipment while learning directly from staff about the different methods of making coffee from home. The welcoming café space also offers a full breakfast and brunch menu, fresh pizzas, treats from local bakeries – and, of course, a full coffee menu including their famous nitro cold brew (now available in 330ml cans from their website).
Today Frazer’s sends their award-winning blends all over the country, but the key ethos remains the same: providing high-quality, ethically sourced coffee at honest prices while teaching anyone interested how to get the most out of every cup.
