The “family” is back, this time, pitting the gang head to head against their patriarch, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), as he goes rogue to help a cyber terrorist with a mysterious hold over him. The Fast & Furious franchise is unashamed, formulaic movie-making, meaning fans of the series will not be disappointed in the slightest. If you’ve seen the last few instalments, then you can expect more of the same, only with bigger stunts, bigger set pieces and a ridiculous story which is nothing more than a testosterone-fuelled excuse to tie together a string of spectacular chase scenes, lots of explosions, some highly polished supercars and plenty of fisticuffs. But therein lies it’s charm, and the film never pretends to be anything more than two hours of undemanding, wholly entertaining and unadulterated fun. Put your brain in neutral and enjoy the ride.
