Twice-yearly theatre festival EnableUS is back for their Spring run of events from February, and this year they’ve got their most critically acclaimed line-up yet.
Four top reviewed shows from national drama festivals will hit the stage of the University of Sheffield Drama Studios alongside a host of up and coming talent.
Nick Hopwood, Head of Performance Venues at the University of Sheffield says: “We’re thrilled to welcome back The Pretend Men with Police Cops in Space, their sequel to Police Cops that packed the Drama Studio last year.
Also, following their sell out performances of Ventoux in 2017, 2Magpies Theatre return with their powerful fully-immersive show, Last Resort.
We’ve also got an impressive international line up with three great performances in one night with Best of BE festival. And the critically acclaimed Guardian Pick of the Fringe 2017 MOUTHPIECE direct from Canada.”

FEBRUARY
Sun 25 feb, 8pm: The twins macabre: slay
What is it? “High-energy dark comedy intertwined with Vaudevillian theatrics, live music and a touch of gore”.
We say: Probably not one to bring your nan to.
Tue 27 feb, 8pm: Police cops in space
What is it? This is the sequel to the hugely successful Police Cops show from last year, it’s enjoyed three sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, Vaults festival in London and Soho theatre. Billed as a ‘lo-fi sci-fi’ expect plenty of humour and outer-space antics.
We say: Get your tickets early for this one.
Wed 28 feb, 8pm: The economy of ecology
What is it? A show about the power of connection featuring “razor sharp word play and balletic physicality”.
MARCH
Thu 1 mar, 8pm: Best of BE festival
What is it? A pick of three top shows from Birmingham’s international arts festival.
Sat 3 mar, 8pm: MOUTHPIECE
What is it? Award-winning Guardian Pick of the Fringe 2017 show described as a ‘new feminist language’.

APRIL
Tue 17 apr, 8pm: Who wants to live forever?
What is it? A show which “uses the music of Billie Holiday to explore what makes some stars, celestial as well as human, shine brighter and fall harder than others.”
Thu 19 apr, 6pm & 8pm: Last resort
What is it? A fully-immersive show which “re-imagines Guantanamo Bay as a holiday resort with the audience as holidaymakers who are in for an unforgettable experience”.

Fri 20 apr, 8pm: The man on the moor
What is it? Another Guardian Pick of the Fringe, this drama explores “how people come to disappear and the impact on those they leave behind”
Sat 21 apr, 8pm: The north! the north!
What is it? Dystopian show images a world where “a fissure forms at England’s centre and splits the north from the south”.
We say: At least it would put to bed that old ‘where’s the north south line’ argument.
