The annual Sheffield Chinese New Year show has been running since 2004 in Sheffield City Hall and this year we’re celebrating the year of the rat!

Expect authentic costumes and award-winning productions from both the local community and entertainers all the way from China. There will be traditional performances from dancers, singers, musicians and acrobats so prepare for your jaw to drop!

Every year, over 2000 people of all backgrounds come together to celebrate and watch this show which is strongly supported by the Sheffield government, the Chinese Embassy and Chinese Consulate who will be giving speeches at the event.

“This show provides the chance for oversea Chinese to celebrate their New Year, at the same time promotes Chinese Culture in the region. We hope Sheffield will continue celebrating this event that we started many years ago,” says founder Jerry Cheung.

This year’s event takes place on Monday 27th January at 7pm.

There will also be a free admission pre-show in the Ball Room starting from 4:30pm where guests can try traditional Chinese food, calligraphy and painting and watch the warm-up performances.

Get ready to be immersed into an unforgettable night of Chinese culture…
