The Way of the Dragon (1972), written, directed, and starring Bruce Lee, is considered a classic of martial arts cinema, now celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
In recognition of this milestone, Reel Steel will present an exclusive screening of this iconic film – at Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema. With this special screening of an enduring classic, discover why Bruce Lee became one of the biggest martial arts movie stars of all time.
From Hong Kong to Rome, our protagonist travels to help his cousin whose restaurant is threatened by local gangsters.This ruthless gang overlooks this young man’s intelligence and ability, and when they cannot kill him, they call upon an international martial arts master, which culminates in a showdown at the Roman Colosseum.
In addition to this, the screening will also have a special guest introduction from Dr Wayne Wong – School of East Asian Studies at the University of Sheffield and published researcher on Martial Arts Cinema. His talk – ‘Bruce Lee: An Auteurist Exploration of The Way of the Dragon’ – will highlight the unique standing of The Way of the Dragon within Bruce Lee’s filmography.
