The sights and sounds of Brazil come to Sheffield as the free Festa Do Brasil comes to Leopold Square this Saturday, June 30th from 5pm.

The open air event will feature a live band, dance displays, DJs and more, is set to reunite a partnership that first piqued Cubana owner Adrian Bagnoli’s interest in the Latin scene and ended up years later as Cubana – one of Sheffield’s largest and most successful independent bars.

Brazilian dance band Viramundo are set to headline this weekend’s Brazilian party. They were the very first act to play Viva Salsa together with DJ Marcus Vinicius at Adrian’s first Latin club night, almost 23 years to the day back in 1995.

Adrian together with friends Toni Dente and Gian Bohan started Viva Salsa night at local nightclub Club Uropa (formerly Isabellas) booking Viramundo and Brazilian DJ Marcus Vinicius for the opening night that attracted over 700 Latin craving punters.

Adrian told Exposed: “Back in 1995, the only Latin music that most people were familiar with was The Gipsy Kings and La Bamba. We decided it was the perfect time to introduce a bit more culture to Sheffield. It’s going to be fantastic party on the 30th and it’ll be great to be reunited with such talented performers and old friends once again for this special event”.

Adrian went on to say that: “We’ve already enjoyed two fantastic outdoor Salsa In The Square events in 2018 – I’m confident that our free Festa Do Brasil will be another winner and embody the spirt of this great Latin nation in this summer’s World Cup.” The party continues inside Cubana from 10pm with their Brasilica after-party.

Cubana Tapas Bar is situated at Unit 4 Leopold Square, Sheffield S1 2JG. Bookings can be made on 0114 276 0475. For more info, go to: www.cubanatapasbar.co.uk
