 Spirit of Africa festival to welcome acclaimed international artists to Sheffield for a new cultural festival. 


Organised by Utopia Theatre, the Spirit of Africa festival will bring together contemporary and traditional music, theatre, poetry and fashion in celebration of Africa. Rapper, journalist and poet Akala will headline the event with Dele Sosimi and the Afrobeat Orchestra, Iroko Theatre, Oduduwa Talking Drummers Aar Maanta, Breis, Nambula and Sheffield’s own K.O.G and the Zongo Brigade joining him on the line-up.

More than half of the festival’s events are free to attend including free workshops in drumming, writing, dance and storytelling. There’ll also be the SoAfrica Marketplace available to see the latest in African-inspired fashion, accessories, books and homeware.

SoAfrica Festival 2018 takes over the Crucible on 26 – 27 October.
