Stuck for ideas on what to do this Valentine’s Day? Fret not as this year Village Green Events will be holding a special Valentine’s screening of the 90s classic Romeo + Juliet at Abbeydale Picture House, and it doesn’t get more romantic than that really.

The historic Picture House will provide an ideal backdrop to Baz Luhrmann’s stylised modern take on the old Bard’s tragedy with a floppy-haired Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo and a well pre-Homeland Claire Danes. The venue will be complete with candles and romantic decor for an evening a cut above your standard date night cinema trip.

What’s more, there’ll be food to die for (pun not intended) from Proove and The Blue Caribou Canteen, as well as a bar serving Thornbridge Brewery, wines, Prosecco – and themed drinks! A Village Screen DJ will set the tone with 90s tunes, and live music will play in the car park. Audiences are encouraged to bring a blanket and wrap up warm; snuggle up together and get cosy with your loved one in the magical setting.

The Village Green hosts classic films across Sheffield, Manchester and the Peak District at the most spectacular and magical venues including caves, woodland spaces, farms and even swimming pools for an immersive, truly enjoyable experience – and valentine’s is set to be yet another top showing.

For tickets head here. Tickets are £14 (adults or £11 (children). Doors are ate 6.30pm, screening starts at 8.30pm. Age 16+ only.
