To coincide with Reverend and the Makers latest release, ‘A Letter to my 21-year-old Self’, (out on Friday 24th March), Jon asked his Twitter followers to send him letters directed to their 21-year-old selves, with the intention of forming an exhibition/mass therapy session!
After hundreds of submissions, the letters are due to go on display at the newly re-opened Fagan’s pub from 8pm tomorrow, where there will also be the opportunity to write your own letter.
Jon will be around for a chat on the night, and being Jon, he might even whip out the acoustic for a sneaky rendition of the new single (we’ve heard it – it’s class!)
As well as heart string-tugging letters from members of the public, Jon has also received submissions from a litany of celebs, MP’s and musicians, including as diverse a cast as Brian Eno, Joey Barton, Mel C, John Trickett MP, Carl Barat, La Roux, Neville Southall and loads more.
Explaining the idea, Jon told Exposed: “My latest single is called ‘A letter to my 21-year-old self’ and it is the only song I’ve ever written where I cried during the process.
“But then it struck me that the concept is really strong and applies to everyone equally. So, I’ve invited submissions from people of all walks of life.
“My hope is to build it into a larger audio-visual exhibition at some point. But for now, we drink Guiness in Fagans.”
The exhibition is open from 8pm and you can send your own letter here.
