A new Sheffield Folk Guide has been created by a not-for-profit volunteer organization to create more awareness of the vibrant and lively folk music and singing scene within Sheffield. With events across the city, this is a guide not to be missed for any lovers of traditional folk, and those looking to get into it for the first time.

Sheffield hosts many of the UK’s most popular folk musicians, and there are folk gigs on somewhere most nights, plenty of pub sessions for songs and tunes, and, from mid-November, the local Sheffield caroling scene will begin.

Founder Kathy Barnes said, ‘I have had so many wonderful experiences at folk events in Sheffield since I first came here as a student over 30 years ago, and I wanted to make sure other people can find out about some of the fantastic events. I have more experience of the English and Celtic music scene and would be particularly keen to hear about and share events from other traditions.’

Venues include Café #9, Crookes Social Club, Firth Hall and Shakespeare’s Pub. For more information, click here.
