Open Air Theatre During the summer season the Botanical Gardens will be hosting a variety of film screenings. There will be something for everyone. One of the options include Sense & Sensibility (Jane Austen) on the 23rd June at 7:30. They will be running a 2-4-1 offer for 16-24 year olds. If Jane Austen isn’t your cup of tea then there will also be a screening of Bad Dad, suitable for the whole family, on the 24th June at 2pm. The performance of Bad dad will be running a Pay What You Can scheme. Both performances will have BSL interpretation. If this sounds right up your alley then make sure to bring picnic blankets and your own seatings. There will also be a pop up cafe running for most of the performance but feel free to bring your own snacks. Sheffield FoodFest 2023 The Sheffield Food Festival will be returning for its 10th year running between the dates of 26th May to 29th May. The festival allows you to explore a diverse range of food and drinks from a variety of local businesses. The festival will be hosting over 50 traders, 16 acts, 2 DJs and 3 special evening events. This year’s festival will be split between 4 different areas: traditional Street Food section, an Artisan Market, the Info Village and then a Main Stage & Bar. They will take place across the Peace Gardens, St Paul’s Parade, Millennium Square, Town Hall Square and Pinstone Street and the info village being based in the Winter Gardens. Millennium Gallery-Workshops In addition to hosting amazing exhibitions, the Millennium Gallery will also be holding a variety of Workshops, suitable for everyone no matter their skill level. For our youngest artists they will be running a Friday under 5s- Get Stuck in between 26 May- 30th June at 10:00 to 12:30 am. These sessions are amazing for them to discover their senses as they play instruments or discover bugs in the gallery or decide to get stuck playing with goop or colouring. Just make sure to remember to bring spare clothes. These sessions are completely free but donations are welcomed. For our slightly older members they are hosting a Feel Good Art Club: Drawing Class. These sessions are led by practising artist and professional tutor Donna Brewins-Cook. The sessions run between 5th April to 7th June at the times of 18:00 to 19:30. The sessions allow you to take inspiration from different daily life objects, these will be provided but feel free to bring your own. Botanical Gardens When city life gets tiring the Botanical Gardens are the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures of nature. With 18 different gardens each dedicated to different geographical areas or botanical themes, there’s bound to be something for everyone. Some of the gardens include the Pavilions, whose eternal design has been based on Victorian ideas, and the Rock and Water Garden, which was originally laid out in an italianate style Victorian Times but later redesigned by Clarence Elliot in 1929-1930. Pax in The Park Rolling back into town again is the ‘Pax In The Park festival’ which will be happening at Heeleys’s People Park from 21st july-23rd July. The festival will help to bring communities and families together through their lo0vbe of live music, food and beer. Weston Park Museum During 10th February to 29th October the Weston Park Museum will be holding an exciting exhibition called Hair: Untold Stories. The exhibition focuses on the substance before the style and focuses on the untold stories of hair. They explore the relationship with hair both on our heads and off, and why we care so much about it. The exhibition includes the works of artists, film makers and designers with a range of objects and archive material. The admission for the museum is free but donations are welcome.
