After three years in the making, independent events space The Mowbray has finally opened its doors to the public.

The team behind Kelham Island’s Chimney House has renovated the space on Mowbray Street, bringing to life a historic building that has stood in Sheffield since 1889.

The venue has a capacity of 200+ guests, and will specialise in “daily meetings, away days, training sessions and conferencing” as well as weddings, Christmas parties and birthdays.

A statement on the venue’s Facebook page said: “Our ethos over the last eight years at The Chimney House has been ‘let us look after you’ and this forms the foundation of The Mowbray. We’re proud to be based in Neepsend – rich in Industry and honest trade.”

A champagne afternoon has been announced for 15 July to celebrate the opening.
