Adam Leavy, Masterchef semi-finalist and head chef at renowned vegan bar/restaurant Alvarium in Manchester, was in Atkinsons department store on The Moor. Lucky shoppers received a free lesson in plant-based cooking from one of the top vegan chefs in the country.
Adam pulled out all the stops to impress on customers that vegan food can be just as delicious as the usual omnivorous fare! He served up a menu of shiitake bacon & beer battered lettuce, mac & ‘cheese’ with sweet potato bon bon, and hazelnut rice pudding for dessert.
David Cartwright, Atkinsons store manager, said: “We were thrilled that Adam agreed to take part in our event and very encouraged by the amount of people that turned up. More and more people are choosing vegan meals so it was a natural thing for us to do. It was also a bonus to be able to raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity – our new charity partner for 2020.”
