Lucy & Yak have partnered with grassroots charity Fior Di Loto, to send 36 girls to school. Fior Di Lotto is an Indian foundation focussed on working in the village of Pushkar, in the state of Rajasthan, where Lucy and Yak’s products are also made. The charity not only provides opportunities for Indian girls to get an education, but is also works within the impoverished community to improve the quality of life.

The Barnsley-based clothing brand managed to sponsor these girls by donating ten percent of its profits from Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. The company has an excellent track-record of ethical initiatives and objectives, something which is visible through their ethically-sourced products, which are sold in either biodegradable, re-usable, recycled or even, wearable packaging. Moreover, Lucy & Yak work closely with the community from which they source their products from, ensuring that their employs are paid four times the state minimum wage.

Having met with founders of Fior Di Lotto- Deepu and Mara- and getting to visit the school, they are thrilled that all the money that was raised will help the girls to get their education. Their donations will not only fund a whole year of schooling but will also afford them uniforms, school books, lunches, transport to and from school, and outfits for Indian festivals.

Founder of Lucy & Yak, Lucy Greenwood said:

‘’We want to say a huge thank you to every single one of our customers who bought anything on these days – we wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. 36 was way beyond what we expected, to be working with a charity so wonderful, in a region of India that is so close to our hearts, and be able to change the lives of girls who need it most is amazing.

We are so grateful to have a loyal and loving customer base who were to happy to sacrifice a sale saving and instead make a difference to someone’s life.”
