Sheffield’s Jarvis Cocker has commemorated the famous Kinder Scout mass trespass with a new art trail.

The 1932 protest saw hundreds of ramblers walk on to private land on Kinder Scout in Derbyshire to assert their “right to roam”.

Following the protest, five men were arrested and imprisoned.

The former Pulp singer’s BE KINDER walk starts at the Penny Pot cafe next to the station at Edale, where walkers can hear a jukebox which plays songs inspired by passion and protest.

The project is part of the National Trust’s People’s Landscape programme and will run from Saturday until 15 September.

The trail “encourages people to think about the importance of being kind to this incredible natural habitat”, according to the trust.
