Castle House food hall ‘Kommune’ has revealed the first three traders to take up residency in the iconic former Co-Op building.
Sharrow Vale Road’s Pom Kitchen, award-winning beer bottle shop Hop Hideout and street food burger vendors Shoot The Bull have been confirmed for the food hall, which has promised another seven independent-based kiosks, likely to be announced closer to the time of opening.
Pom Kitchen
Aussie-inspired vegan and vegetarian restaurant Pom Kitchen opened in April 2017 and has impressed foodie fans of Sheffield with its atmosphere and aesthetic, not to mentioned the delicious, and colourful, food.
Shoot The Bull
Hull-based street food vendor and regulars at Peddler, Shoot the Bull is making a permanent move to the Steel City. According to Kommune, STB’s brand new rotisserie and grill concept will be making an appearance at Kommune.
Hop Hideout
The award-winning beer bottle shop has moved out of its renowned Abbeydale Road shop to take up a permanent spot in Kommune, providing a one-stop-shop for all your beery needs – slap bang in the middle of the city centre.
Kollider, the regeneration company tasked with revitalising the building, has promised to retain some of the original features of the Castle House building, including the aesthetically-pleasing staircase that runs vertically through the many floors of Castle House. Rather than dust off the cobwebs and throw a bit of polish on it, what sounds like the main feature of Kommune will be this feature itself: The Staircase Bar, serving up a range of local beers, organic wines and an eclectic mix of cocktails.
Kommune has yet to announce an opening date, but it is expected to open ‘early 2019’. Keep an eye on Exposed for more info as it comes, or check out Kommune’s website for updates.
