Grassroots-collective Notwork 23 – the discordian cooperative behind Festival 23 – have announced plans for a new counter-cultural event at Yellow Arch Studios in July. 


CATCH 23 is a festival in a club, featuring live bands, DJs, theatre, talks, workshops, poetry, games, art and magic. The event will see 30 acts perform across three main rooms, including headline slots from Merseyside-Based DJ Greg Wilson, psychedelic group Henge and Kermit & The Super Weird Sound. Also on the bill is the debut performance of Lisa Lovebucket’s autobiographical play Tony Blair Walks on Water and music from Giblet, Bloom Duo, The Private Sector and Man Bites Fridge.

Over the 14 hour there will be walkabouts and pop-up performances, including magic workshops from chaos magician and breathwork coach Dave Lee, and Defence Against The Dark Arts with Fortean journalist, pop culture occultist and retired combat magician Cat Vincent. The festival will also be hosting a range of speakers including game designer and author of the books Chaos Ethics, Imaginary Games and The Mythology of Evolution, Chris Batemanand noted occultist, editor of Psychedelic Press UK and director of Breaking Convention, the international conference on psychedelic consciousness, Nikki Wyrd.

There will also be a fully licensed bar, street food, activities and immersive art to explore.
