Depending on where you live, Covid-19 restrictions have finally begun to lift as the vaccinations have become more widespread. Sadly, in other areas, these restrictions still hold fast in place for various reasons.
Whether it be in developing nations that cannot afford the same healthcare as richer nations, or simply countries with large populations that require a long time to take care of, there are still a lot of people in lockdown, or at the very least unable to see friends or family.
For those people, they are probably bored and sad having to spend all of their time with themselves or only close family members. Family certainly knows how to grind each other’s gears like no others!
Therefore, I want to make a list of party games that are really fun to play with friends! Some of these will have online multiplayer options, making them also a fun way to interact during Covid. As opposed to single-player games like what you’ll find when cashing in your Intertops casino bonus to play online casino games!
Rocket League
Rocket League is a multiplayer sports game with a bit of a twist. The simplest objective in the game is to just play soccer. The twist? All the players are cars!
In Rocket League, you drive around a large arena and try to get the ball into the opponents’ goal. This will score you points, and whoever’s team has the most points when time runs out wins!
Even for those of you who have no interest in sports or don’t like the Fifa, Madden, etc kind of games, Rocket League is still a really fun game to play! It is different in all the right ways and brings a new twist to an old concept.
The best part? It is completely free! This means you can play with as many friends as you want without having to worry about somebody being left out because they don’t own the game.
Since there is also online multiplayer, this is one of the great options for play during Covid. So, you can have some nice tournaments with your friends, and race to the end to see who is the best motor sports player!
Bloons Tower Defense 6
This is a game that may not strictly fall into the party games category due to it being only 4 player co-op, but I enjoy it so much I wanted to include it on the list.
Bloons Tower Defense 6 is a round based tower defense game where you aim to use different defensive and utilitarian towers to stop balloons from going through the map and exiting out the other side.
In multiplayer, you will work with friends to place towers around the map and try to work together to defend the exit from letting balloons out. Limited money means that you all have to work together if you want to get far.
Now, Bloons Tower Defense 6 is not free. However, at only a cost of about 10 dollars, it is well worth the asking price. You can easily get hundreds of hours of fun out of the challenges and maps that are given to you.
In addition, there is also an “Odyssey” mode where you do sort of a grand Prix of maps. Even if you complete all the regular map challenges, there are community made ones as well that you can strive to complete as well.
Jackbox Games
Jackbox Games is probably the closest you can get to a regular party game. That is, of course, because it is literally a party game! Jackbox Will serve you rather well if you need to entertain a whole room full of people.
Some of the games that I really enjoyed were Fakin’ It, Trivia Murder Party, and Quiplash. All of them are great fun but are best enjoyed with at least 4 players in my opinion.
For Trivia Murder Party, you have to answer trivia questions correctly each round to score points. If you answer questions wrongly, the other players do minigames to determine whether you become a ghost or not. You can still win, but there are some restrictions on ghosts.
For Fakin’ It, it is a game where you are presented with a prompt or yes or no question that everyone has to answer. However, there is a sneak who is not shown the prompt, so he has to try and guess based on how other people answer (raise your hand for yes, don’t raise for no).
This can lead to some fun moments where sneak raises his hand too fast and the question was something like, “Have you ever done a backflip off a moving car while drunk,” and then he has to nervously explain himself without somehow getting caught.
Finally, at the end of the game, you are all given prompts to fill in with words. The sneak however is given a different prompt. Everyone then has to guess based on the answers given who is the sneak.
Sounds easy right? The sneak is given a different prompt, it’s obvious! But the prompts are meant to have similar answers so that the sneak can blend in if he gives vague enough answers.
For instance, the main prompt might be, “Presents to give to your mom.” But the sneaks prompt might be “Things you would buy on Valentine’s day,” for example.
This can lead to some pretty funny moments as the sneak doesn’t know what questions he is answering until the end of the round. So, it can be quite funny if he answers an embarrassing question then has to explain himself or be caught.
Finally, there is Quiplash. In this game, you are given word prompts that you have to answer. For instance, the prompt could be something like “Something you wouldn’t want to find in your shoe.”
Then, everyone votes on who’s answer they think is the best or funniest (you don’t know who gave what answer until the end) and they are given points. It goes on like this for a couple rounds and is just great all around fun with a group of friends.
