Exposed Magazine

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Get Together returns to the University of Sheffield’s Foundry stages for a huge bank holiday celebration of independent music, art, food, and drink on Sunday 1 May and here’s a handy heads-up of what to be looking out for while you’re there…

Get in early

The gates for this year’s Get Together open at midday, and the action begins pretty much immediately. With over seven stages and areas to explore, filled with loads of amazing bands, be sure to get down early.

Experience the beauty of Firth Hall

Firth Hall is a truly unique space, which is usually reserved for classical performances. Don’t miss your chance to see some incredibly special performances from the likes of Morgan Harper-Jones, Etta Marcus and local upstarts Oh Papa, as they perform in this extraordinary space!

Eat, Drink and be merry

As well as having loads of brilliant live music and DJs, Get Together has a wide array of street food stalls, bars and even a beer and cider festival featuring over 80 beers and ciders! Who doesn’t like a day (and night) sesh?

Hang out Under The Bridge

As well as ticketed stages, Get Together have teamed up with The Outdoor City to offer a completely FREE area. As well as food and drink, The Under The Bridge stage will feature some of the best new talent coming out of Sheffield. So, whether you want to bring the kids down for the afternoon or just soak up the festival atmosphere for an hour, everybody is welcome.

Get Down!

The line-up for this year’s festival is packed full of incredible artists, including artists like Squid, Confidence Man, She Drew The Gun and Goat Girl. There’s a wide range of different styles of music, so whether you want to bounce around to bands or have a full-on dance, there’s loads to take in.

Party until the bitter end

If after a whole day of fun, you still want to keep dancing, then head to Sidney and Matilda, where ticket holders can get in free to the official afterparty. There’s an ace line-up of DJs that plan to go until the early hours – one for the straight through crew!

Discover your new favourite band

Get Together is a festival of discovery and gives many artists their first opportunity to play a festival stage. Kieran Crosby, the festival organiser had this to say: “When we book Get Together, we do it on the basis of the outstanding quality of the artists, so even if you don’t know the names of the bands playing, we know you’ll be blown away.” Be sure to take a punt on someone new!

Hop about

All of the stages at Get Together are less than a three minute walk between each other, so even if there’s two artists playing at the same time, you can easily pop from one stage to the other and catch a bit of everything!

Make new mates

One of the best things about the first Get Together last August was how friendly the audience were! Everyone is passionate about music and making up for lost time after having a number of years unable to share in the joy of live music. The festival proudly promotes that there’s “no VIP area!” because it wants everyone to be together and join in the fun.

Get planning
