Sheffield short film ’61 HUGS’ has scooped two awards – Best Short Documentary of 2019 & Best Free Documentary of 2019 – at Documentary Weekly’s annual awards.
Described as “… powerful, uplifting and moving” by awarding website Documentary Weekly, ‘61 HUGS’ reveals what happened when filmmaker CK Goldiing left his home in Walkley and asked the first 61 strangers he encountered for a hug.
Since its release in late 2018, ’61 HUGS’ has had thousands of online views, screenings at Sheffield’s Doc/Fest and a premiere in the States.
“I can’t thank Exposed Magazine enough for your ongoing support – you’ve been immense.” says Goldiing. “You’ve joined me on this glorious ride since day 1 – I mean, this is our fourth interview, right? How are you people not bored of my yet? Come on!” [laughs]
Goldiing is equally grateful to Sheffield city and his online followers – both instrumental in winning the awards. “61 HUGS’ would never have found an audience without people watching it and enthusiastically telling everyone they know about it.
