The second phase of Park Hill in Sheffield has been named among the winners of the Royal Institute of British Architects’ National Awards for 2024.
Urban Splash and Places for People have worked in a joint venture partnership on the development of Park Hill since 2013, creating a new place where hundreds of people now live and work.
The two organisations saw phase 1 of the redevelopment shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2013. The annual RIBA National Awards, aim to celebrate the country’s best new buildings and give insight into architectural design and social trends.
Stirling Prize winning architects, Mikhail Riches were appointed to undertake the designs for Phase 2 seeing high demand for the one, two and three homes, and 20,000 sq ft of mixed- use commercial space for a variety of offices and workspaces, as well as a new café, restaurant and terrace.
RIBA president Muyiwa Oki, said of this year’s awards: “The sheer breadth of work is quite astounding.”
“This is a testament to the standard of architecture in the UK right now, as we maintain a sense of ambition and consider how design must evolve to meet future needs.”
Celebrating the year’s finest new architecture, the RIBA awards touch upon themes of restoration and adaptation of existing structures, in particular involving examples with a sustainable architecture twist.

The winners of the RIBA National Awards are eligible to be considered for the shortlist for the prestigious Stirling Prize, which will be announced on 31st July.
