West Street staple The Hallamshire Hotel (formerly Bloo88) is gearing up for a hotly anticipated re-launch on 2nd February 2024, following extensive refurbishment efforts under the venue’s new management.
The new team have worked tirelessly to create a venue that ‘redefines nightlife on West Street’, promising a new dancefloor, new soundsystem, new décor, new drinks and the return of live music with the upstairs function room revived as a gig space.
Downstairs is decked out in a truly distinctive aesthetic that we’re told ‘could have fallen right out of Stanley Kubrick’s head; Sheffield hasn’t seen such a unique dance floor in years (unless you’re old enough to remember Stardust)!’
Setting the tempo for a top night out is a new DJ booth and sound system, and away from the dancefloor the redesigned layout is intimate, designed with late-night revelry in mind.
The revamped cocktail menu, carefully curated with a blend of down-to-earth classics and exclusive in-house specials, is complemented by an impressive array of craft beers, ciders and more.
“We are thrilled to unveil the exciting changes that we hope will redefine nightlife and live music on West Street and beyond,” said Will McMahon, Operations Manager of The Hallamshire Hotel. “Our vision was to create an atmosphere and environment that Sheffield has never seen before and we can’t wait to show off what we’ve come up with.
“Whether you’re a student looking for a great night out, a live music lover or just passing by, The Hallamshire Hotel is set to become your destination of choice.”
After spending years largely unused, the upstairs now sports a new stage and sound system, ready for amazing acts that will knock your socks off. This installation marks a return to the venue’s storied past as host to countless acts from Sheffield and further afield, including legends such as Pulp and Richard Hawley.
“With the musical history this venue has, there’s a huge pressure to get this right,” Will explains. “We’ve had fantastic interest from both national and local promoters and the gig calendar is starting to fill up, so we’re really looking forward to showcasing some top acts.”
The venue will also sport a revamped beer garden. With a new covered and heated seating area, the garden invites guests to relax outside, rain or shine and all year round.
“The beer garden was in a bit of a state when we took over. A friend of mine said it felt a bit like the smoking area at East Midlands Airport. We’ve definitely spent a lot of effort making it feel much more welcoming than that!” jokes Will.
The re-launch is scheduled for Friday 2nd February 2024 with an evening of bands and DJs across both floors till late. The Hallamshire Hotel invites everyone to join in the celebration of this new era in one of Sheffield’s most beloved venues.
