Thursday 2 August marks National IPA Day, and with Sheffield (probably) having the most hop-heads per square mile in the country, there’s plenty of boozers to choose from to celebrate. Here’s just five of ’em…
Sentinel Brewing Co
Sentinel Brewing Co love the idea of IPA Day so much that the Shoreham Street brewery/bar is re-releasing some of its most popular Sentinel rarities like the EU IPA and the acclaimed Antipodean DIPA. Beer matched food will also be available, including fried hop-corn chicken and beer-marinated steak.
For more information see the Sentinel Brewing Co Facebook event.
BrewDog IPA Day Event
BrewDog has shipped in some of the best IPAs from 18th Street Brewery in Indiana, USA. 18th Street was founded as a home brewery by Drew Fox in 2010. After years of hands on learning and exploration, 18th Street Brewery became official with the release of Sinista DIPA in 2013. On the fabled taps on Thursday will be Here Comes The Reaper (IPA, 6.2%) and Rise of the Angels (IPA, 7.7%).
For more information see the BrewDog Facebook event.
Sheffield Tap
For those uninitiated, Sheff Tap is the pub next door to the train station. Frequented by locals, outsiders and travelling hop-heads, there’s always a huge amount of beers on keg, cask and in the fridge. Grab us a Jaipur whilst yer at the bar, will yer?
Bar Stewards
This Gibraltar Street micro-pub recently celebrated its one year anniversary, so check in on them and make sure they aren’t too hungover, yeah? Expect a range of ales, lagers and ciders from all over the UK and Europe.
Shakespeares (pictured)
Shakespeares has a huge bottle list which can be supped in or taken away. With world class breweries like Cloudwater and Magic Rock regularly on tap, it’s a favourite amongst local beer-heads.
