Another cocktail bar is opening on Ecclesall Road, adding to the area’s already-established reputation as a hot spot for boozers and bars.
Lounges, the company behind the laid back cocktail bar and restaurant Zorro (which opened at Fox Valley last year) are moving forward with plans to open Amaro at 519 Ecclesall Road. Amaro, meaning bitter in Italian, is a herbal liqueur commonly used in post-dinner drinks. Presumably, we can expect the vibe of the new bar to follow suit, especially with parent company Lounges having form for chilled out, relaxing cocktail venues across the country.
Job vacancies have already been advertised on the company’s website, with the description for a head chef role reading: “Do you want to work for an award winning company? If so, Loungers is for you! We are open all day, every day and serve great quality food and drink in a welcoming, relaxed environment.
“We are currently recruiting for a talented Head Chef at this amazing new site. This position is not for the faint-hearted, and office monkeys need not apply! We are more interested in a chap or chapess who wants to have a part to play in a swiftly evolving company whilst running a truly beautiful business. Frankly, who wouldn’t want that?”
Amaro will be taking over the unit which housed Veenos for a short while before its closure last year.
