For ten festive nights, Sheffield will be brought to life with stunning new light projections across some of its most iconic landmarks. Light Up Sheffield, taking place from 5-14 December, will see beloved Sheffield artists displaying their work on a huge scale, taking inspiration from the city’s heritage and culture.
Created in collaboration with Sheffield Business Improvement District, The Art House, Sheffield Cathedral and Sheffield City Council, the illuminations are the perfect family-friendly event and free to visit across all three venues.
Sheffield Central Library will celebrate the work of renowned local artist Pete McKee, whose projections will be accompanied by an exhibition of new pieces from the past year. The exhibition will feature a voice-over from McKee, reflecting on his experiences in Sheffield and how the city inspires his creativity.

McKee’s work can also be found at Sheffield Cathedral, with a brand-new commission highlighting the building’s stunning architecture and stained-glass windows. Inside, visitors can explore a collection of over 40 Christmas trees, individually decorated by local charities and organisations.
In the heart of the city, emerging street artist Peachzz will bring her record-breaking mural Reverie to life in Pounds Park, with light projections animating the piece like never before.
Councillor Mohammed Mahroof of the event: “By bringing together local artists, iconic buildings, and stunning light projections, we’re creating something truly special for residents and visitors alike.”

“Christmas is a time for light, hope, and togetherness,” said Dean Abi Thompson from Sheffield Cathedral. “Light Up Sheffield is a chance to see our beautiful city at its very best – shining in the way that only Sheffield can!”
Light Up Sheffield will take place 5-14 December, 5-9pm, across Sheffield Cathedral, Sheffield Central Library and Pounds Park.
