8oz Burger Co on Leopold Street has announced its closure via social media over the weekend, as the doors finally shut on a two year stint in Sheffield city centre.
The handcrafted burger company initially announced the news on 4 July, stating: “Instead of mourning our loss, we’d prefer to celebrate the last couple of weeks with you committed followers.”
On Sunday 15 July, the owners took to Facebook again to announce the closure. “So today was our last day….8oz burger co would like to thank Sheffield for the past two years – it’s been a pleasure serving you. If anyone would like to buy this fully fitted restaurant unit, we are ONLY seeking £15k, otherwise we will be handing the unit back to the landlord.”
Replying to customers on the post, bosses said: “We are struggling with both staff and time….other commitments don’t allow us the time that the unit requires.”
The restaurant had been open more than two years in Sheffield city centre.
