Sheffield Bricktropolis LEGO Takeover
LEGO fans you are in luck. Sheffield centre is set to be transformed into a “Bricktropolis”, which will see a trail showcasing marvellous brick-based creations dotted around the city.
Taking place 4-17 August, Sheffield BID has announced it will feature 20 world landmarks as well as some famous Steel City sites. From skyscrapers to Sheffield City Hall, you will be able to explore using a trail map and app to locate each feature.
The man behind the Brick Architecture display is Duncan Titmarsh of Bright Bricks, the only certified LEGO builder in the UK. Micheal LeCount, building expert and Sheffielder, has been in charge of designing the regional Sheffield creations.
As well as the trail, there will also be an interactive building zone for children over the age of 4 to enjoy workshops. These workshops will see youngsters given the chance to design cities, transport, gardens and space bases. Sheffield Bricktropolis is all about using the imagination, whether that be observing other’s creations or making their own. There will also be competitions, such as who can build the tallest building or the fastest car. These events will take place in a vacant retail unit, which will help to brighten up the city centre. We advise booking onto these sessions in advance as they are set to be popular.
Not got kids? No problem, Sheffield Bricktropolis has sparked fringe events such as Bricks and Beer for adult LEGO lovers to enjoy with a bev. Or if you want a chilled afternoon, go watch the screenings of the LEGO movie instead.
