Award-winning Handmade Cinema is teaming up with Broomhill Library on a whole season of illustration, storytelling events and workshops all revolving around Roald Dahl’s Matilda. Responding to the classic novel through art, creative writing and music, the event will start on March 4 with children’s author Berlie Doherty reading an extract, with musical storytelling and book-themed craft.
Quentin Blake will be usurped on March 18 when children will be illustrating elements of Matilda, and then on March 25, they will try their hand at penning their own creative tales and enter their short stories in the Writing Is Magic! competition for ages 6-11. The Matilda season then draws to a close with the screening of Danny DeVito’s timeless film. Head over to their website for more info.
