5 Things To Do In Sheffield This Weekend

Stuck for something to do this weekend? Not to worry, eh? We’ve taken the liberty of rounding up five top events all taking place over the next three days. No worries, like. 

Sensoria Festival, Friday 25th September – Saturday 3rd October
Sensoria Festival launches this weekend with a multitude of film, music and art events taking place across the city. DJ Yoda will be spinning the best hip-hop anthems at Picture House Social Ballroom with a one of a kind audio-visual set on the history of Hip Hop. Cityscapes take their roving dance performance through the Millennium Gallery, across SHU amphitheatre, and down Howard Street whilst a 3D screening of Wacken at Curzon Cinema takes place on Saturday.

Bread in a Day, Saturday 26th September
Have you been inspired by the Great British Bake-off? If so then head down to The Showroom Workstation for a bread making course. Their top chefs will show you how to make a variety of breads and baking techniques before you have a go at kneading the dough yourself. Tea, cake and lunch will be provided just in case your baking isn’t up to scratch.

The Great Yorkshire Run, Sunday 27th September
For anyone feeling sporty this weekend The Great Yorkshire Run is taking place this Sunday. The 10km race starts and ends at Arundel Gate and is run in support of Yorkshire cancer research. For those feeling less fit, why not head down to cheer the racers on and listen to several local bands that will be playing at some of the more gruelling stretches of the course to spur the runners on. Once the race is finished, a full afternoon of live music beckons in the Peace Gardens. Get involved!

Jimmy Carr : Funny Business, Sunday 27th September
Jimmy Carr brings his controversial comedy set to the City Hall this Sunday. The 8 out of 10 cats presenter is renowned for his crude one liners and will be perfect for anyone after a good laugh to end this weekend.

The View, Friday 25th September
Scottish indie rock quartet, The View, are headed to the Leadmill on Friday. The band is well known for their catchy songs such as chart hit ‘Same Jeans’ and ‘Sour Little Sweetie’.
