The Gardeners Rest wins CAMRA pub of the year
The Gardeners Rest has been awarded 2019’s Pub of the Year at the Sheffield round of the prestigious CAMRA Awards. The Neepsend boozer beat the likes of The Three Stag’s Head, The Rutland Arms and previous winners Kelham Island Tavern in this years bid.
Despite near fatal damages in the flood of 2007 and a transition of management in 2016, the pub remains an integral part of the Sheffield beer scene.
Like most places, they part-take in the usual pub festivities, hosting regular live music sessions and weekly quizzes. There’s a range of sandwiches and pork pies available to buy on the bar and the riverside beer garden is among the best in the city.
However, the main attraction of the pub and what confirmed their victory, is their community participation ethos. Arranging meetings and events for local groups and getting involved with volunteering is amongst the many things The Gardeners brings to the locality.
