Stancill Brewery apply to open Chapeltown bar

Stancill Brewery and BLG Property LTD have applied to turn the old HSBC building in Chapeltown into a restaurant and bar.

The Station Road building has been empty for more than two years, after HSBC announced the closure of the branch back in April 2016. After successful acquisitions of the Norfolk Arms, The Horse and Jockey, The Albion and The Closed Shop, Stancill Brewery is now looking to branch out to the northern Sheffield suburb.

A planning statement said: “Stancill Brewery is an established and respected brewery based in Sheffield, producing quality real ale and lager products for their four existing sites. The current outlets are all in Sheffield with a focus on comfort and community.

“This is a substantial characterful building on a centrally located prominent site close to many other community amenities with excellent transport links. The
development will help bring renewed vitality, employment and choice to the area.”

The brewery has applied to open the venue at 9am for restaurant purposes and midday for its bar licence. The bar would open directly opposite popular Weatherspoons pub The Waggon and Horses.
